Lakheshwari Temple, Gwalior

Lakheshwari Temple (लखेश्वरी माता मंदिर) is situated in Gwalior district and very near to Bhitarwar village. It is located at hilltop (460 ft) and surrounded by lush green forest. It is one of the famous Goddess temples of the region and pilgrims from surrounding regions visit this place and take the blessing.  Tourists/ Pilgrims have to climb more than 700 steps to reach the main campus or temple.

A few weeks ago,  Youth Hostel Group has planned to go on an excursion trip to the place nearby the city.  Our discussion stopped at one name i.e Lakheshwari Mata Mandir. 10 members gave their confirmation for the same. We hired two cars for this trip and planned it for next Sunday.

Let’s Explore

At 6:00 pm, we all met at One point and left for the destination. Lakeshwari Temple is 75 km from Gwalior via Ghatigaon, Aaron, and Rani-Ghati. Roads were good and both side village environment. Enroute to our destination, we stopped at Rani Ghati.

Rani-Ghati: Once upon a time, Rani Ghati was known as the ‘land of decoits’ but now what fascinates is their stories. There is one small fortress, on the hilltop which includes a lot of temples and forest area.

After one quick at Rani Ghati Temple, we moved to our Final destination i.e Lakheshwari Temple.
